K2 is a granite stone with blue inclusions created by the presence of a copper-based mineral similar to Malachite or Azurite. It is found only at the mysterious and sacred K2 Mountain on the Tibetan Plateau near the border of Pakistan and China. K2 is the second highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest. It is known as the 'Savage Mountain' due to the extreme difficulty of ascent. It has the second-highest fatality rate among peaks over 8,000 feet. About one in four climbers dies in the attempt to reach its summit.
