Description

At Pueblo Bonito, a Pueblo II ruin from about 1200 AD, in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, Turquoise was buried or hidden in homes for good fortune. Those ancient Pueblo dwellers valued Turquoise above all else. It was the major trade item with visiting coastal Indians who brought shell and parrot feathers to trade for Turquoise. This necklace pays homage to those forebears of today's Pueblo Indians. The focal is a sterling silver, brick-shaped bead made for us by Navajo silversmith, Tim Yazzie. Two round 8mm beads of Kingman, AZ Turquoise set off the focal while ten sterling beads, made in Arizona, add interest to the 5mm tube-shaped Kingman Turquoise. The Turquoise is natural color, cut in Arizona. Kit finishes to 19" and includes layout of the design, stringing material, sterling silver clasp and crimps. To lengthen the necklace, check out item SWB_ss_4 (4mm sterling silver round beads) in the Southwest Beads section of the site.

Price is for one kit.
